As of 24 June 2025, the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Public Security has decided to suspend the processing of asylum applications from Syrian nationals and stateless persons from Syria for up to 6 months, until 24 December 2025.
The decision follows earlier steps taken by the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) on 9 December 2024 to pause such applications due to the uncertain situation in Syria following the fall of the Assad regime.
