Each tab explores a thematic area through an interactive data visualisation and accompanying report. The interlinks between authorities and institutions are also outlined in the mappings.
Methodology
The information presented is collected through publicly-available sources and EUAA reports. Prior to being published, the information is validated by national administrations in EU+ countries and other stakeholders, when necessary.
Thematic overviews
The thematic overviews are regularly updated and new topics are added. Overviews currently available:
- Policymaking authorities: presents the ministries responsible for defining policies related to the international protection procedure.
- Asylum authorities and authorities involved in access to the asylum procedure: presents the national authorities for processing asylum applications and authorities involved in access to asylum procedure.
- Countries applying the concept of safe countries in the asylum procedure: presents which countries apply the concepts of a safe country of origin, a safe third country, and a European safe third country in the processing of asylum applications.
- Dublin units: illustrate the roles, responsibilities, and stakeholders involved in the Dublin procedure.
- Reception authorities: The overview presents the national authorities responsible for reception conditions in EU+ countries, commonly referred to as reception authorities.
- Authorities involved in resettlement and humanitarian admissions: outlines the resettlement and humanitarian admission programmes in each EU+ country, identifying the responsible national authorities and key stakeholders involved in their implementation.
- The role of UNHCR in EU+ countries: maps UNHCR’s activities and priorities across EU+ countries, mapping the agency’s specific role in asylum procedures.
- The role of National Human Rights Institutions and Ombudspersons: presents the roles and activities of NHRIs, Ombudsperson institutions and Ombudsperson for Children in the field of international protection.
