According to information published by the Ministry Denmark marked a record law of approximately 860 persons who where granted asylum in 2024.
- The total number of asylum applications in 2024 was approximately 2,300. This is the third-lowest since 2007, and the number of asylum applications has generally remained at a stable low level in recent years. It typically takes a few months to process an asylum application.
A foreigner who has a well-founded fear of being persecuted due to, for example, race, religion or political opinions may be granted protection (asylum) in Denmark. - An asylum permit is a time-limited residence permit for temporary residence in Denmark until
protection is no longer needed. - Persons who have applied for a residence permit under the special law for Ukraine are not part of the asylum statistics.
