Ministers of Slovenia, Croatia and Italy meet on migration management and cross-border cooperation

A trilateral meeting was held in Pordenone with Minister Matoz, Italian Minister Matteo Piantedosi and Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Davor Božinović.

The minister stated that Slovenia has experienced an increase in illegal migration and emphasised registration in the Eurodac system as the only way to determine the country of entry and to ensure that all countries assume their share of responsibility. He highlighted the importance of implementing the Pact, especially the efficient implementation of border procedures and the rapid return of persons who do not meet the conditions for entry or residence.

He indicated that Slovenia expects the control carried out by Italy on the internal border with Slovenia to be lifted as soon as possible, recalling that Slovenia immediately lifted control on the internal border with Croatia and Hungary after the current government took office. He said that the three countries remained united in implementing trilateral patrols on the EU's external border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.
