Following Implementing Decision 2026/1912 of the EU Council, the Czech Ministry of the Interior introduced, as of 5 August 2026, a new requirement for persons seeking temporary protection. Persons subject to military service in Ukraine between the ages of 18 and 60 are not eligible for temporary protection, unless they provide proof of full exemption from military service. This concerns applications for temporary protection, repeated applications for temporary protection and applications of family members for temporary protection for the purpose of family reunification, filed from 5 August 2026 on. This new provision does not concern people who already have temporary protection and have maintained it with no interruptions. The requirement to prove compliance with military obligations will not apply to the process of extending temporary protection.
