Due to retirement of the current General of the Border Guard and the vacant position of Head of the Technical Department of the Border Guard Headquarters, the Government proposed the appointment of Colonel Jaakko Olli for both vacant positions for the period 1 January 2027 – 31 December 2030. The proposal is scheduled to be confirmed by the Finnish President on 14 August 2026.
