The Interior Ministers of Latvia and Lithuania met to discuss regional security, including hybrid threats and migratory pressure at the EU's external border. They reaffirmed their commitment to preventing irregular border crossings and strengthening external border security.
During the meeting, the ministers signed an intergovernmental agreement to enhance cooperation between the two countries' law enforcement authorities, including through information sharing, coordinated operational activities, joint exercises and exchanges of experience.
They also emphasised the need to maintain a high level of preparedness and close coordination in response to the instrumentalisation of migration, highlighting the importance of technological solutions, timely information exchange, and international cooperation in border management.
