The French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons (OFPRA) will move into new premises in early 2027. The premises are situated in the immediate vicinity of the current headquarters (Périgares), which OFPRA has occupied since 2003.
The move has four main objectives:
- To improve the services and reception of more than 600 daily visitors, whether for the examination of asylum applications or the registration of civil status. The services to welcome visitors will be redesigned, with particular attention paid to accessibility for people with disabilities and children;
- To improve working conditions for 1,113 staff members by reorganising the offices, strengthening security measures and providing new communal workspaces and social areas, including access to the building’s modern facilities and the landscaped gardens, patios and terraces;
- To reduce OFPRA’s environmental footprint: the new premises was awarded the latest environmental certifications;
- To house OFPRA's archives, which comprise nearly 13 linear kms of files, the oldest of which date back to the 1920s. Unlike other government departments, OFPRA retains its historical archives under an autonomy agreement concluded with the National Archives of France.
