Austria carried out another removal to Afghanistan of an Afghan national after he served a seven-year prison sentence. An entry and residence ban had been imposed on the 30-year-old.
During his stay in Austria, the Afghan national committed multiple offences and was convicted, among other things, of serious sexual and violent crimes. He opted for a supervised voluntary removal following judicial approval.
His arrival in Kabul, Afghanistan, was confirmed by the competent authorities.
A controlled voluntary departure from prison custody is a significantly more cost-effective alternative to forced removal from the country. It may be approved by a court if the person concerned has served at least half of their prison sentence.
