SEM awarded contracts for support services in federal asylum centres as of 1 January 2027. Following a public tender launched in May 2026, ORS Service AG secured four regional contracts (French-speaking Switzerland, Bern, Eastern Switzerland, and Ticino-Central Switzerland), while Convalere AG won two regions (Northwestern Switzerland and Zurich).
The contracts cover asylum seeker support and healthcare services, as well as basic provisions such as food, clothing and hygiene products. They will run from 2027-2029, with the possibility of two separate 2-year extensions.
Two Zurich asylum centres, already managed under an existing agreement by Asyl-Organisation Zürich (AOZ), were excluded from the tender and will continue under AOZ’s responsibility.
The new mandate introduces the establishment of regional management structures to strengthen leadership and coordination and the creation of a dedicated “Child Support” function to improve childcare and early language development, as well as higher requirements for staff training and continuing education.
Currently the SEM operates between 25-35 permanent or temporary federal asylum centres across six asylum regions.
