The Ministry of Justice and Public Security emphasised the importance of close cooperation with the EU on migration and returns. The ministry noted that the government is working towards a controlled, sustainable and fair immigration policy. It also highlighted Norway’s efforts to prevent irregular migration and ensure the return of individuals who do not have the right to remain in the country.
The government supports the proposal for a new return regulation, which aims to increase the number of returns from the Schengen area and reduce secondary movements within Europe.
