IND simplifies the family reunification procedure

Go back to the Recent Developments Timeline

The IND reported that it will simplify the application process for family reunification as of 1 December 2025, to facilitate applicants to go though the process independently, with tailor made support offered where necessary. Developments include a simplified written application form, the expansion of digital application options and an improvement of information available on the IND's website. An instructional video and flyer in multiple languages, including Arabic, Farsi and Turkish, will also be developed and from 1 December a special telephone number of the IND will be available for six months to respond to questions about the family reunification procedure. If required, an applicant may also be assisted in person at an IND desk.

The IND reported that this improvement was required due to the continued rise in recent years of the number of open family reunification applications. Additionally, because the Dutch Council for Refugees will stop providing individual guidance, the IND held that it will accelerate a number of adjustments to the application process.
