Following Ministry of the Interior's circular of 9 June 2026 which called on local authorities to develop operational protocols for the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2024/1356, several Prefectures (e.g. Alessandria, Biella) developed standard operating procedures for the screening of applicants for international protection. Local health authorities and civil society organisations were involved in the process.
