On 23 July 2026, the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum published the National Strategy for the Protection of Vulnerable Persons of the General Secretariat for Vulnerable Citizens and Institutional Protection. This is the first comprehensive and horizontal policy framework for the protection and support of vulnerable third-country nationals in our country.
The aim of the National Strategy is to serve as the ‘compass’ for the planning, coordination and implementation of relevant policies, functioning as a common point of reference for all involved public institutions, international organizations and Civil Society.
The National Strategy is developed around three main pillars:
- Strengthening the framework for the protection of vulnerable persons.
- Strengthening access of vulnerable persons to services and supporting the effective exercise of their rights.
- Response mechanism support: coordination, training, data management.
