New Prime Minister announces key priorities including migration

Newly incoming French Prime Minister François Bayrou  presented his key policy priorities before the National Assembly on 14 January 2025.

During his presentation he referred to immigration and stressed the importance of enforcing the obligation to leave French territory, considering the fact that currently 93% of such obligations are not enforced.

He called for the reestablishment of an Interministerial Committee for Immigration Control. In addition, he highlighted the transposition of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum and the re-establishment of a dynamic path for development aid in 2026.
