The Ministry of the Interior welcomed the EU Commission's proposal to establish a common list of safe countries at the EU level. The government considered that for a more efficient asylum system it is important to ensure that rejected asylum applicants are returned to their countries of origin as soon as possible.
The government agreed with the proposed list of safe countries of origin as of 16 April 2025.
