The European Commission has launched infringement procedures against several EU Member States for failing to notify the complete transposition of the the Reception Conditions Directive 2024/1346 into national law by the prescribed deadlines. Letters of formal notice have been sent, giving the Member States two months to provide a response and communicate the necessary national measures.
The Member States concerned include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
Should the Member States fail to address the identified shortcomings within the specified timeframe, the Commission may proceed to the next stage of infringement proceedings by issuing reasoned opinions.
