During the first three quarters of 2025, Denmark recorded a notable increase in voluntary repatriations, reaching the highest levels to date. A total of 523 people used the national repatriation scheme, of whom 413 returned to Syria, marking a substantial rise compared to 94 in 2024. The Minister for Immigration and Integration, Rasmus Stoklund, welcomed this development and emphasised that many Syrians who arrived approximately a decade ago have faced integration challenges and are now opting to re-establish their lives in their country of origin. The Danish repatriation scheme, in place since 1993 and governed by the Repatriation Act, provides financial assistance of up to approximately DKK 250,000 per adult and DKK 50,000 per child to support returns, including establishment, travel, education and medical expenses.
