In 2026, 57,000 beneficiaries of temporary protection residing in Czechia expressed interest in obtaining a special long-term residence permit in the country. These individuals were associated with 33,000 different households. To be eligible, beneficiaries of temporary protection must have resided in Czechia for at least 2 years, be economically self-sufficient, not receive humanitarian benefits, and have secured housing, health insurance without arrears and a valid travel document. In total, 21,900 people from almost 13,000 households met all the conditions. The evaluation results were published on 1 October 2026, when registration for the special long-term residence permit began.
Successful applicants will be able to register and book a visit to the Ministry of the Interior's office from 1 October to 31 December 2026, via the Information Portal for Foreigners, where they will be verified for meeting other requirements. If they meet them, they will receive a special long-term residence permit for 5 years with free access to the labour market and the possibility of later applying for permanent residence. Beneficiaries of temporary protection who are not eligible for the special long-term residence permit can continue to reside in Czechia under temporary protection.
