The agreement is part of the solidarity mechanism provided for by the Pact and an essential step for the practical implementation of the principles of shared responsibility and European solidarity. The result of the outward-looking policy of the Republic of Cyprus, it will contribute to further reduce the number of asylum seekers in the island.
