DMMIP signs grant agreement to provide specialised services to manage judicial cases related to asylum

The grant agreement will co-finance the project "Legal Representation of the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection in Asylum Seeker Cases", (AMIF/SO1/2026/10) to strengthen the operational capacity of the Deputy Ministry to manage more effectively judicial cases related to asylum and migration by providing specialised legal services from law firms or consortia of individuals with the required legal training and experience.

The selected providers will represent Cyprus before the competent courts in asylum and immigration cases. The services include handling appeals, complaints and other legal proceedings, preparing registrations and pleadings, and presence before the courts.

The aim is to process pending cases faster, respond more effectively to increased needs and strengthen the competent services, without requiring a corresponding increase in the staff of the public service. At the same time, cooperation with the private sector offers greater flexibility allowing the officials of the DMIIP to focus on their administrative and operational tasks.
