To date, over 3,000 applicants for international protection have been relocated from Cyprus

The Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection and the Asylum Service announced that from 2022-17 September 2025 more than 3,000 applicants for international protection were relocated from Cyprus to nine EU Member States under the Voluntary Solidarity Mechanism. The majority of relocations (2,913) were implemented between March 2023-September 2025.

Cyprus now records the highest number of relocations among the five frontline Mediterranean countries participating in the Mechanism (Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta and Spain).
