By Decision 575 of 27 July 2026, the Council of Ministers adopted draft amendments to the Law on Foreign Nationals in the Republic of Bulgaria and submitted it to the National Assembly for adoption. The draft was discussed first in the National Assembly on 16 September 2026. The draft amendments govern the rules for the screening of third-country nationals, according to the Regulation 2024/1356 and the return border procedure, pursuant to the Regulation 2024/1349.
