By Decision No 515 of 10 July 2026, the Council of Ministers adopted the National Plan of the Republic of Bulgaria for 2026 for the development of border management capabilities and the return of illegally-staying, third-country nationals. It also approved the report on the implementation of the National Plan of the Republic of Bulgaria for 2025 for the Development of Border Management Capabilities and the Return of Illegally-Staying, Third-Country Nationals. The national plan provides measures to ensure effective border control, which includes an effective screening process, to allow for the rapid identification of asylum applicants and vulnerable groups.
