The Federal Minister of the Interior, Alexander Dobrindt, EU Commissioner Magnus Brunner and 17 ministers for migration and the interior gathered for the second migration meeting in Munich on 26 September 2026.
The meeting focused on the next steps in implementing the Common European Asylum System, protecting Europe’s external borders and stepping up return procedures, as well as the European Emergency Response Framework announced by the European Commission.
Alexander Dobrindt welcomed the respective ministers from Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Greece, Malta, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Czechia, Ireland and the United Kingdom to discuss current migration policy issues in the run-up to the Justice and Home Affairs Council in October 2026.
