In partnership with the IOM, UNICEF and four municipalities - Ivaylovgrad, Tundzha, Malko Tarnovo and Burga, the State Agency for Refugees under the Council of Ministers is implementing a pilot project to construct a modern centre for alternative social care for unaccompanied refugee children in the village of Ovchi Kladenets.
The aim is to refurbish the building of the former home for children deprived of parental care into an innovative centre with capacity for 10 children with disabilities, as well as an additional two places for crisis accommodation. This centre will provide a protected environment for the most vulnerable group - unaccompanied minor refugee children.
The official launch of the construction project was held by the Tundzha Municipality and the State Agency for Refugees.
