Due to the volatile and rapidly-evolving security situation in Lebanon, the legal department of the Swedish Migration Agency recommended to temporarily suspend decision-making in cases involving the deportation or expulsion of Lebanese nationals. The suspension applies to applications for international protection but only when the outcome would be a rejection. Decisions to grant protection may still be issued.
This recommendation does not apply to decisions concerning cases of obstacles to enforcement where the examination does not require an assessment of the security situation in the country, decisions on applications for a residence permit where no protection needs are invoked (such as work or study permits) and decisions on applications to extend existing temporary residence permits.
The suspension will remain in effect until further notice, and at least until 8 June 2026, while the Swedish Migration Agency continues to monitor the situation in Lebanon.
