The Reception and Integration Agency has developed an innovative information system for the administration of translation services - VERTIS . In the VERTIS system, institutions, foreigners, translators and translation agencies can easily order, administer and provide translation services in real time. The system opens up opportunities to use translation services not only for the main institutions involved in migration and integration processes, but also for municipal institutions and organizations in the regions that provide social, psychological assistance, education or other services to foreigners. “The first national system VERTIS was primarily created to make it easier and faster for institutions and organizations working with foreigners to receive translation services in one place. The system standardizes, digitizes and connects the entire translation process in all migration links – from border crossing to integration. For the first time, all institutions can order translation services in one common translation system, which reduces the administrative burden, and makes processes clearer, faster and more convenient. The system is useful for both institutions and foreigners themselves,” says G. Pocius, Director of the Reception and Integration Agency.
The VERTIS system also empowers foreigners with various linguistic needs, as certain target groups of foreigners can independently and free of charge submit orders in the VERTIS system. Translation services can be used by asylum seekers, asylum seekers, unaccompanied minors, foreigners who have illegally crossed the border (on the territory of the Republic of Lithuania), persons being returned/deported to their country of origin, persons being relocated and persons who have received temporary protection. Services are available in more than 40 languages. Based on the collected data, the system will allow forecasting and planning the volume and languages of translations. "VERTIS is becoming an innovative tool that ensures the human right to understand the process. Translating information related to asylum procedures and integration processes into a language understandable to a foreigner is not just a technical service - it determines whether a person will understand their status, rights, obligations and decisions made regarding them. The system is becoming an essential communication bridge, reducing the risk of errors and enhancing clarity and informativeness throughout the migration process," says G. Pocius, Director of the Agency.
Translation services are provided to an individual or group in person, remotely or by agreement, orally and in writing. General interpretation services include orders related to asylum and integration procedures and are provided in the following institutions: the Migration Department, courts and pre-trial institutions, educational institutions, the Employment Service, healthcare institutions, including institutions providing mental health services, municipalities and institutions subordinate to them, etc. General translation services include documents related to asylum and integration procedures: personal documents, birth and marriage certificates, divorce or guardianship documents, asylum examination procedure documents, etc.
VERTIS is coordinated by the Reception and Integration Agency, which will organize training for interested parties in January 2026. Instructions for using VERTIS are available on the Agency's website, and translation services can be ordered at https://vertimai.piia.lt
