Latvia extended residence permits issued to displaced persons from Ukraine who are beneficiaries of temporary protection until 4 March 2028.
From 31 July 2026, individuals applying for temporary protection for the first time must prove that they have fulfilled their military service obligations in Ukraine or are legally exempt from them. Acceptable proof includes:
- An exit stamp in passport showing legal departure from Ukraine.
- An official document in paper or digital format (such as the Ukrainian Reserv+ app) confirming exemption or fulfilment of military duties.
If military service has been deferred, temporary protection will be granted only until the date specified in the official document. The above rules apply only to new applicants whose applications are submitted on or after 31 July 2026.
