Minister receives delegation from the US Department of Homeland Security

In the frames of an increasingly stronger cooperation between Greece and the US in the field of immigration and the management of modern migration challenges, the Greek Minister of Immigration and Asylum welcomed a delegation from the US Department of Homeland Security on 17 July 2026. The discussion revolved around managing irregular migration, the effective implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum, and the importance of returns as an essential element of a credible and effective migration policy. Particular emphasis was placed on the exchange of best practices and experiences between the competent services of the two countries, with the aim of enhancing their operational effectiveness.

The meeting was a continuation of the close cooperation between the two countries, which in recent months has been strengthened through joint training action, exchange of know-how and operational cooperation on issues of managing irregular immigration and returns.
