A streamlined mechanism for information exchanges between stakeholders applies as of 1 October 2026

The proposed amendments to the regulations on the exchange of information between authorities, aiming to streamline the exchange of information between the police and other authorities will enter into force on 1 October 2026.

Amongst others, the Immigration Service will have the right to receive information about certain wanted persons as well as the obligation to notify the police of the identity and presence of the wanted person at the premises of the Immigration Service. The amendments are primarily aimed at crime prevention and security improvement and concern the Police Act, the Police Personal Data Act, and similar regulations of the Border Guard, Customs, and the Defence Forces.
