The Ministry of the Interior submitted a proposal for comments on the amount required for a family member of a person residing in Finland with a residence permit. The amount of the secured income will be stipulated in a government decree, and its limits will be determined by taking into account the availability of labour and general public finances. The current amount is provided in the instructions of the Finnish Immigration Service, but an increase is foreseen with the proposed changes.
Additionally, the proposal envisages changes on the payment cards issued to clients of the reception centers, including asylum applicants.
The proposal is open for comments until 2 October 2026.
