The Ministry of the Interior allocated approximately EUR 29 million from the EU Home Affairs Funds for border management, internal security and migration management projects. The funds will support projects for developing information systems, combating financial and cybercrime, and supporting the implementation of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum in Finland.
The funds will be distributed as follows:
- Approximately EUR 13 million from the Border Management and Visa Instrument (BMVI) allocated to the Border Guard for prevention of illegal migration, development of information systems (Visa Information System) and promotion of the digital processing of visas. The funds will also cover activities related to the implementation of the Pact, with the Border Guard, the National Police Board and the Special Authorities Agency for the Administration of Justice as beneficiaries,
- Approximately EUR 1 million from the Internal Security Fund (ISF) for a project aimed at combating financial abuse and cybercrime,
- Approximately EUR 15 million from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) to support the Finnish Immigration Service’s operational support for processing asylum applications processed under the accelerated procedure and the border procedure and to secure resources for legal advice. In addition, the Finnish Immigration Service will receive funds for the implementation of the Pact.
22 applications were submitted for the spring application call and a total of around EUR 87.8 million was available.
