According to statistics published by the Ministry of Immigration and Integration, the number of foreigners voluntarily returning to their home countries with financial assistance under Denmark’s Repatriation Act of 2026 is increasing. Between January-August 2026, 618 people used the repatriation scheme, including 513 Syrians (accounting for 83% of the total).
The Immigration and Integration Minister welcomed the increase and stated that the government intends to explore ways to make the scheme more targeted. He argued that voluntary returns could benefit both Denmark and foreigners who have not fully settled in the country.
