From June 2026-May 2029, the Croatian Red Cross is implementing the project "Support to Asylum Seekers through Social Services and Psychosocial Support – CORE" ("Podrška tražiteljima međunarodne zaštite kroz socijalne usluge i psihosocijalnu podršku - CORE"), funded by EUR 3,499,997.82, of which 75% is provided by the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and 25% by the Croatian national budget.
The project builds on four previous projects co-financed by AMIF and the Croatian Ministry of the Interior and will provide support with everyday activities, including the development and implementation of hygiene, social and health services in reception centres for applicants for international protection in Zagreb and Kutina. Activities include reception and accommodation support, individual and group psychological support, translation services, and assistance with exercising rights and accessing available services, with special attention paid to children and vulnerable applicants. Transport to medical services and the procurement of medicines and supplies for outpatient services are also planned.
An initial meeting to launch the project was held at the Croatian Red Cross Educational Centre in Zagreb and was attended by representatives of the Reception and Accommodation Service of the Ministry of the Interior, and the Directorate for European Affairs, International Relations and EU Funds, as well as representatives of the organisation Médecins du Monde.
