The Chairman of the State Agency for Refugees under the Council of Ministers (SAR) met with the Head of the IOM in Bulgaria, reiterating their readiness continue joint activities They discussed joint activities and social support in SAR’s registration and reception centres, the development of safe zones for unaccompanied minors and a project proposal under the Second Swiss Contribution.
The Chairman of SAR emphasised that, despite low migration pressure, social support remains important in view of the Pact on Migration and Asylum. In this context, IOM partners have committed to supporting with translators and cultural mediators to conduct regular, structured information sessions for people in registration and reception centres. The partner organisation will provide specialised training to staff, particularly on working with vulnerable groups.
